When
Adam and Eve sinned, they tried to cover their own nakedness with fig-leaves,
which symbolizes mankind's inferior self-righteousness. God didn't accept
their fig-leaf religion.
Instead, God killed an innocent
animal, shedding its blood to provide clothing for Adam and Eve (which
symbolizes the innocent Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, Who gave His life to pay
for our sins). Jesus paid a debt that He did not owe, because we owed a debt
that we could not pay. Jesus is precious!
